Northern Colorado AD Darren Dunn on Interviewing

In conjunction with our partners at D1.ticker, Turnkey Search is pleased to present “1.Question”, an audio feature in D1.ticker’s daily email newsletter. “1.Question” features brief interviews with high level collegiate athletic administrators.

In this 1.Q interview, Northern Colorado AD Darren Dunn says that when he’s interviewing a candidate for an open position, he focuses on how a candidate responds to his overall body of questions, rather than his or her answer to one go-to question. Dunn also notes that he taps in to the list of 100+ questions Baylor AD Mack Rhoades cultivated to get a synopsis of the “whole person” he’s interviewing, and considers how that candidate treats people up and down the ladder. He also shares his thoughts on the importance of trusting your gut.
