Turnkey Recruiting Rice FB Coach

Turnkey has been retained by Rice University to assist Director of Athletics Joe Karlgaard with the search for a new Head Football Coach.

“We will be opening a national search starting this afternoon,” said Karlgaard. “We hope to bring that to a swift conclusion, although I will say that finding the right fit for Rice is the most important thing that we can do at this time. We’ve enlisted the help of Turnkey Search (and) Gene DeFilippo. Gene was a college coach for 10 years and an Athletics Director for 20. He will be assisting us with vetting the candidates in the process.”

The next leader of the Owls will replace David Bailiff, who amassed a record of 57-80 in his 11 seasons at the helm at Rice.

Coach Bob Stitt (University of Montana and Colorado School of Mines) is an offensive genius and would be a great fit

Looking for a coach that can recruit to the high academic standards of Rice University, a coach that is creative, a coach with a great reputation for being innovative and developing high character young men at a stringent academic institution…..one candidate – Bob Stitt.

As a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines and the Rice Executive Management program I would like to suggest that you add Bob Stitt for consideration as the head football coach at Rice University. I watched Coach Stitt turn a below average program at Mines into an winner and he motivated not only the football program but the entire athletic program. It is now one of the top Div II athletic programs in the country. He had a winning career at Montana as well, I am surprised that his contract was not renewed but school politics are what they are.

I would hope Bob Stitt, recently at Montana, would be under consideration. He was extremely successful at Div II Colorado Mines in creating a tradition of excellence and success in an environment of rigorous academics and competitive athletics. He came to Mines with experience in that environment at Harvard as offensive coordinator. And , Bob had a winning record at Montana and I have no knowledge of that situation.

Many factors go into the choice of head coach but Rice is also an institution facing the challenges of academic rigor and competitive athletics where Bob has excelled. I hope he will be considered for the Rice Institute Head Coach position.

    Thanks
