Luke Named Ole Miss Head Coach

Following a national recruiting effort executed in partnership with Turnkey, the University of Mississippi has named Matt Luke Head Coach of the Ole Miss football team. Luke is the program’s 37th head coach, succeeding Hugh Freeze.

Luke became Interim Head Coach of the Rebels in July of 2017, following Freeze’s resignation. The Rebels finished the 2017 season with a record of 6-6.

“The easy decision was to hire someone new, make a splash with a big name,” said Ross Bjork, Ole Miss Vice Chancellor of Intercollegiate Athletics. “The hard decision was to drill down, assess our program and figure out the coach that we actually need.”

Between stints on the Ole Miss coaching staff (on which he held various roles in 1999, 2002-2005, and 2012-2016), Luke coached at Murray State (Offensive Line Coach), Tennessee (OL/Tight End Coach), and Duke (Co-Offensive Coordinator/OL).

Turnkey has been an industry leader since 1996, with a legacy of more than 1,000 executive search placements. Current and recent Turnkey clients include the University of Alabama, the Atlanta Hawks, CitiGroup, the University of Denver, Louisiana State University, the University of Michigan, the Milwaukee Brewers, the University of Mississippi, Monumental Sports, the University of Nebraska, the Oakland Raiders, Richard Childress Racing, RocNation, Rutgers University, the Tampa Bay Lightning, Temple University, the University of Tennessee, Ticketmaster, Townsquare Media, the United Center, VStar Entertainment Group, and the Washington Nationals.
