Background:

Founded in 1883, the Philadelphia Phillies are one of the “Classic Eight” teams that established Major League Baseball. The Phillies boast two World Series victories (1980, 2008), seven National League Pennants, and 11 East Division Titles. The Phillies players have a rich history of individual success as well, including five MVP awards, seven Cy Young awards, and four Rookie of the Year awards. The Phillies play in beautiful Citizens Bank Park, a 43,651-seat ballpark built in 2004, and located next to the recently constructed entertainment hub, Xfinity Live!. The culture of Philadelphia is present throughout the park, from the city skyline in the distance to concessions that include staples such as local beer, cheesesteaks and “crab fries.” The park has hosted numerous high-profile events, including the 2008 and 2009 World Series, 2012 NHL Winter Classic, and multiple concerts featuring Billy Joel, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Jason Aldean, Beyonce, and Jay-Z. The city is the fourth largest media market in the United States and growing, and is home to the most avid professional sports fans in the nation.

The Phillies are woven into the fabric of the city of Philadelphia. Much like the city itself, the Phillies field a team that is diverse, skilled, and exciting.  After considerable success the last decade, the team has retooled its roster with a number of young, talented players including Rhys Hoskins, Nick Williams, Aaron Nola, Odubel Herrera and J.P. Crawford.  The team is looking to build on the success it had in the second half of 2017. With a group of young stars, the team has created a sense of excitement and optimism in Philadelphia.
