Background:

Founded in 1966 by Joe Robbie, the Miami Dolphins began play as an expansion team, and has since built itself into a truly iconic NFL franchise.   In 1972, the Dolphins completed the NFL’s first and only perfect season culminating in a Super Bowl win, winning all 14 regular season games, two playoff games and Super Bowl VII.   The team also won Super Bowl VIII, becoming the first team to appear in three consecutive Super Bowls, and the second team to win back-to-back championships.   Over the past five decades the Dolphins roster has been filled with legendary Hall of Famers such as Head Coach Don Shula, Dan Marino, Larry Csonka and Bob Griese.

Since January 20, 2009, Stephen Ross, Chairman of the Related Companies, has owned a 95 percent controlling interest in the Miami Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium, and the surrounding real estate, and he serves as the organization’s Managing Partner. Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, one must manage multiple areas of responsibility including leadership, programming, revenue generation, staffing and relationships:

Leadership

  • Coordinate event logistics, such as registration and presentation along with pre- and post-event evaluations.
  • Stay current on high school and middle school football trends.

Revenue Generation

  • Develop and manage the P&L statements for camps tied to signature programming:
    • Elite level camps.
    • Gatorade junior training camps.
    • Work with Miami Dolphins Foundation to secure grants.
    • Work collaboratively with partnerships to create and sell sponsorships.

Programming

  • Oversee signature events and programming:
    • 7 on 7 tournament and symposium.
    • All-star games.
    • Recognition (in-school and game day) and winners for Weekly Awards (Coach of the Week, Player of the Week and Mom of the Week).
    • Coaching clinics (coaches, rookies, moms/parents).
    • Cheer competition.
    • High School Media Day (in conjunction with communications department)
  • Ideate, develop and execute new programs in keeping with the core mission and strategy of the organization and department.

Staffing

  • Oversee full-time youth program staff members as well as part-time staff including:
    • Interns
    • Game day staff
    • Summer staff

Relationships

  • Maintain and enhance relationships with coaches, presidents, athletic directors, etc.
    • Maintain an active contact list for all youth and high school coaches.
  • Maintain strong relationship with community relations department to integrate youth programs into overall event calendar.

Other

  • Serve as spokesperson at youth program events (as required).

Education & Experience Required:

In addition to possessing the necessary experience and skill set to achieve the tasks established above, the successful candidate must also meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Sports Management, or Business-Related field required, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience developing successful youth programs and camps or clinics.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Experience in budgeting, as well as forecasting revenues and expenses.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership and customer service skills.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
