BACKGROUND:

Turnkey Sports & Entertainment (TSE) is an agency dedicated to servicing professional teams, leagues, college athletic departments, college athletic departments, governing bodies, facilities, associations, brands, agencies and vendors all within the sports and entertainment industry.  The agency specializes in two key practice areas:

  • Turnkey Search: the sports industry market leader in executive search, professional executive coaching and training, resume writing, job boards, applicant tracking systems and human resource services.
  • Turnkey Intelligence: provider of a wide range of insights, analytics and data solutions to the sports and entertainment industry via our custom product suite. The Director of Legal Affairs will support all TSE entities in all legal affairs. The candidate must be an individual who is nimble and strategic, embraces an entrepreneurial environment, and can multi-task across TSE companies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Negotiate, structure, draft and review a wide range of strategic contracts, agreements, licenses, and corporate transactions.
  • Serve as a legal advisor to TSE and its Executive Leadership Team (“ELT”) on all key business transactions and legal matters.
  • Serve as part of the ELT, providing analysis, advice and guidance for all strategic projects and new business development opportunities.
  • Advise on the litigation risks of possible business decisions particularly with respect to the legal risks associated with business practices.
  • Manage and coordinate the protection of all forms of intellectual property for all related TSE entities.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Advise in the areas of employment and labor practices, human resources and general business practice compliance.
  • Manage the relationship with outside counsel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three to five (3 to 5) years of experience in intellectual property, corporate, and contract law.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating agreements and other documents.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and within a team environment, as well as intensively and pro-actively.
  • Must be charismatic and business savvy.
  • Must have strong leadership abilities and solid persuasion skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task a large number of matters simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be creative, well-organized, possess a strong work ethic, desire to excel and willingness to learn.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Bachelor’s degree and JD required.
